Baker Neighborhood Information

Baker is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Denver, dating back to the late 1800's. At its inception, it was referred to as South Side or South Broadway. In 1872, the first subdivision of Baker was platted, and the majority of the neighborhood was developed in 1883. Today, the Baker area is bounded by 6th Avenue, Mississippi Ave,, Broadway and the South Platte River.

Baker Highlights

Located on the edge of the Baker neighborhood, Broadway has become a popular meeting ground for locals, with restaurants and bars like The Hornet and The Skylark Lounge and galleries conveniently located within short walking distance. The area also features unique boutique stores like Decade, True Love and a number of antique furniture stores. The Mayan Theater, which features indie films, is also a popular spot in Baker.

Baker Real Estate

Baker is a new real estate hotspot in Denver, boasting the largest number of Queen Anne style homes in the area. Recently, a number of older homes in Baker have been renovated, including new landscaping and fresh exterior finishes, attracting more residents to the neighborhood. Styles in the neighborhood range from duplexes, row homes and new build condos, to single-family residences with more traditional Victorian and Queen Anne-style architecture. Most homes range from $200,000-$500,000, with some of the new-build condos listed at over $1 million. Part of Baker's huge draw is its proximity to Downtown, as well as the nearby light rail station and frequency of bus stops, making it easy to go in any direction with or without a car.
