Sloan's Lake Neighborhood in Denver (The Highlands)

Sloan's Lake Neighborhood Information

Sloan's Lake is also considered by many to be the southern part of The Highlands neighborhood, bordered on the south by Colfax, Sheridan Blvd. to the West, 29th St. and Federal Blvd. to the east. At 177 acres, Sloan's Lake Park is the second largest park in the Denver metro area, offering boating, fishing and water sports in the warmer months, and tennis courts, basketball courts, and trails for biking and jogging year-round. The park also features extraordinary views of both Downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains.

Sloan's Lake is named after homesteader Thomas Sloan, who supposedly dug a well in the 1860's and inadvertently tapped an underground aquifer. This transpired to what we now consider the actual lake, which is Denver's largest body of water.

Sloan's Lake Highlights

Some of the benefits to living in the Sloan's Lake neighborhood are its close proximity to Downtown Denver, less than 10 minutes away, all of the amenities and beauty of the park, and the neighborhoods proximity to great restaurants and shopping nearby. Sloan's Lake has a traditional neighborhood feel, with fewer bars and restaurants to walk to than most Denver neighborhoods, but Highlands Square, one of the city's most popular destinations for eating and shopping, is less than 10 blocks to the north.

Sloan's Lake Real Estate

The neighborhood features beautiful architecture, from contemporary new-build homes to classic 1920's bungalows, vintage Victorians, and elegant Tudor homes. The Sloan's Lake neighborhood is likely to remain popular for the foreseeable future as nearby areas continue to thrive and expand.
